MICAH
“Mark” is a 14-year-old male student who is singing recreationally, mostly at school in choir and in a hobby band with a small group of friends. His speaking voice sounds relatively stable, but he struggles with instability related to voice change between the top of his chest voice to his first passage. He goes through a very abrupt flip around the D4-E4, where he would often accidentally land a full octave or more below the target pitch while going through scale patterns. From the F4 to G4, he can either sing in a very weighty voice or a very light falsetto, but struggles with getting anything in between.
He is trying to prepare “Memories” (Maroon 5) for an end of year program at school, and is struggling with the high notes in the chorus:
START: 1:04
Here's to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you
