LENA
“Lena” is a 45-year-old amateur musical theatre singer. It was her childhood dream to perform professionally on Broadway, but life took her down a different path. Now that her children are grown and her career is stable, she wants to pursue her dreams in earnest. She signed up for voice lessons last month after not having trained or performed since college, which was 25 years ago. During her assessment, she sang with a lot of weightiness up to the A4, and then abruptly flipped into a head-dominant mix with a wide vibrato, which she maintained up to the C5.
She has an audition coming up for “The Baker’s Wife”, and has been asked to sing the following clip from the end of “Meadowlark”:

So it's off where the days won't bind me
I know I leave wounds behind me
But I won't let tomorrow find me
Back this way
Before my past once again can blind me
Fly away
And we won't wait
To say goodbye
My beautiful young man
And I
